Photo Guide

A clear, high-quality image helps us create the best possible print for your custom tee. Don’t worry, your photo doesn’t have to be perfect. Just follow these simple tips to choose the best one.

Photos That Work Best

Photos taken with a recent smartphone are usually high enough quality. The goal is not to send a professional photo, but to choose an image that gives us enough detail to work with.

High-quality photo

Whenever possible, upload the original image directly from your camera roll or use a file transfer method that preserves the image quality when sending it to your computer.

Good Lighting

Make sure the subject is well lit, in focus and easy to see. Natural or even lighting usually gives the best result.

Subject in Frame

Make sure the face, shoulders and upper body are not cut off. For pets, keep the head, ears and upper body fully visible whenever possible.

Close Enough

Choose a photo where the subject takes up a good portion of the image and is close enough for important details to be clearly visible.

Photos to Avoid

Most photos are totally fine to use. These tips are simply here to help you avoid the few image types that may not give the best result once printed.

Use Poor Lighting

Avoid photos that are too dark or overexposed, as important details may disappear or look less clear once printed.

Use a Blurry Photo

Avoid small, pixelated or low-resolution images, as they may lose quality when enlarged for printing. Screenshots and images saved from social media are often lower quality.

Crop Important Details

Avoid photos where important parts of the face, head or upper body are cut off. For pets, make sure the head, ears and upper body are fully visible.

Add Heavy Effects

Avoid strong filters, effects, text, stickers or emojis that may hide important details or alter the original colours.

Do I need to remove the background before uploading my photo?

No, you don’t need to remove the background yourself. Our team will prepare your photo and remove the background when needed to create the best result for your custom tee.

Can there be more than one person in the photo?

Yes, your photo can include more than one person. If you want us to include everyone, please mention it in the order notes. If you only want one person from the photo, let us know which person to use in the notes as well.

Can I use a photo saved from Instagram or Facebook?

We don’t recommend it. Photos saved from social media apps are often compressed and lower quality. For the best result, upload the original photo from your camera roll whenever possible.

Can I use a screenshot?

We recommend uploading the original photo whenever possible. Screenshots are often lower quality and may look less sharp once printed.

Can I upload a photo of an object, logo or illustration?

Yes. You can upload an object, logo, illustration or any other image you’d like to use. Just make sure the image is large enough to keep the final design clear. In the order notes, please tell our designers exactly what you want included and how you’d like it to appear on your custom tee.
